Removing chocolate stains from clothes is possible: tricks that work

You are enjoying a delicious cup of chocolate with your friend in a cafeteria and, suddenly, what an oversight! A drop of chocolate has fallen on your favorite blouse, leaving a stain that is clearly visible. “Now what do I do?” you think, “Surely there is no way to remove this chocolate stain without damaging my blouse.” Yes, there is and it is also very easy to use. Here are the tricks that work to remove chocolate stains from clothes. Let’s start!

Tips and tricks to remove chocolate stains from clothes

Removing chocolate stains from clothes is just as complicated as removing tomato stains,  but luckily, we have a series of tricks that will make your clothes look like new. Choose the one that is most effective according to the fabric of the clothes and you will forget about the chocolate stain completely.

How to remove chocolate stains from cotton clothes

Cotton clothes are the easiest to clean, even if they have been stained with chocolate. Lightly dampen the area with the stain, then put a little hand soap or liquid detergent directly on the chocolate stain.

Gently rub and leave for a few minutes. Then wash by hand to remove excess soap and put in the washing machine with the rest of the laundry. If you see that the stain has not been completely removed, you will have to repeat the process.

Remove chocolate stains from delicate clothes

Chocolate stains have no mercy even on the most delicate clothes. So if it’s that delicately woven shirt that’s gotten dirty, try a mix of a little ammonia, water, and just a pinch of salt. Once you have put these three ingredients in a bowl, put the garment to be washed and let it act for a few minutes, no more so that the ammonia does not damage the clothes. Then rinse with water as in the previous point and wash in the washing machine on the appropriate program.

If you’re shy about using ammonia, you can use a little baking soda instead. It is most effective and takes care of delicate clothes. This trick is also highly recommended if you are trying to remove chocolate stains on white clothes.

What do I do if the chocolate stain has dried?

It’s not easy to wash clothes that have been strained right away, so if the chocolate stain has been on your clothes for a few hours, you’ll need to scrape off a layer with a spoon or knife . Of course, very carefully so as not to damage the fabric.

Then, it is best to apply the mixture based on ammonia or baking soda that we have explained before and wash in the washing machine according to the program that the garment needs . You will see that your clothes are spotless!

Hydrogen peroxide to eliminate stubborn chocolate stains

Try this: mix two parts of hydrogen peroxide for one of water in a jar that you have at home , apply it on the stain carefully and, without rubbing too much, let it act for about 10 minutes. Then rinse with cold or lukewarm water, and wash in the washing machine with the rest of the laundry.

The clothes will most likely come out without any stains, but if there are still residues, you will have to repeat the process from the beginning. Or you can also use the trick of putting a little hand soap or liquid detergent on the stain since, since you have already treated it before, it will come out with this method without any problem.
