Home remedies to get rid of fleas

Fleas are small parasitic insects that measure between 1 and 3 millimeters and that feed on the blood of both mammals and birds. The plagues of these small animals usually occur in homes that have pets, especially in the hottest seasons and, in some cases, can be transmitted to humans. From this fact, it can be inferred that fleas can become a health risk, especially that of the smallest of the house since they can carry and spread diseases such as plague or typhus. Although the traditional way to combat them lies in the use of insecticides, we can also get rid of them through certain home remedies.

Get rid of flea pests by using home remedies

One of the most practical and effective home remedies when it comes to eliminating flea infestations is to place a container filled with water under a lamp . The insects will be attracted to the light at night, jump into the water and end up drowning. Once we get up in the morning, we will have to inspect the container and notice that the number of fleas decreases as the days go by. Although it is a good technique, it requires some patience. Another trick that is easy to apply consists of adding the juice of two or three lemons to the water that we normally use to scrub the floor.

If the flea infestation in our house becomes very severe, we can try our luck with a much more aggressive home remedy. If necessary, we can apply apple cider vinegar directly on our skin or that of our pets, with which we will not only relieve the irritation caused by the bites but also repel these annoying insects.

Fleas are insects that are very sensitive to smell, so aromatherapy can become a useful and effective home remedy to eliminate them. We can also place pennyroyal bags between the sheets of our bed, because this herb works as an excellent repellent.
